Savute Safari Lodge, part of the Desert & Delta Safaris portfolio, will reopen on 1 June 2024 after a complete rebuild.

Everything is new at Savute Safari Lodge in Botswana, which will reopen at the beginning of June 2024: Natural materials such as reeds and canvas are used in the newly furnished rooms, intended to create a natural atmosphere and regulate the temperature. For the first time in a Desert & Delta lodge, there are private outdoor showers. The interior combines traditional safari lodge design with a modern, sleek style. The colour palette is inspired by the contrasts of the Kalahari, with earthy greens and vibrant colours of the rain-bearing water.

The guest rooms offer views of the Savute Channel, which stretches from the Linyanti River to the Savute Swamp. The communal area offers uninterrupted views of one of Botswana’s most dramatic waterholes. This is well known from documentaries such as National Geographic’s „Savage Kingdom“ and the BBC series „Planet Earth“; dramatic scenes between predators and elephant herds have been captured here. It offers one of the best wildlife experiences right from the lodge.

Animals in abundance

There should be no shortage of opportunities for game viewing: Elephants come here to eat and play. The migration also attracts zebras, lions, leopards and cheetahs; endangered wild dogs and hyenas also live here. Matthew Johnson, Managing Director of Desert & Delta Safaris, is quoted in a press release: „The new Savute Safari Lodge offers guests a box seat for the wildlife of the unique and mysterious Savute in a comfortable and stylish lodge.“
